ABOUT

Hailing from Sacramento, McKensie Rummel is a classically trained actor and writer whose work explores the emotional lives of women and girls, with a focus on quiet tension, complexity, and the truths we’re often taught to hide.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I’m drawn to stories about women and girls facing pressure, longing, and transformation. My work often centers on how people confront what they feel—and what it reveals about them.

I’m interested in quiet tension, emotional complexity, and the relationships that shape us. As a performer, I’m drawn to subtle, grounded characters. As a writer, I aim to create space for the parts of girlhood and womanhood that are often overlooked: fear, shame, resilience, and the small choices that define us.

I don’t believe in perfect characters or clean resolutions. I’m more interested in honesty, contradiction, and emotional impact. I come from a background in theater and independent film, and I value collaboration, care, and intentional storytelling.

At the core of everything I make is a desire to reflect back what’s often hidden—and to tell the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable, and especially when it’s messy.
